The Envision Rating System for Sustainable Infrastructure: Development, Applications, and the Potential for Lebanon

The private sector has a crucial role in sustainable development internationally. Private investments and public-private partnerships that are sustainable in environmental, social, and economic terms facilitate socially inclusive growth creating jobs and innovation necessary to raise the quality of life. This is especially important in developing countries, where the private sector provides up to 90 percent of jobs. As such, it has the critical potential to facilitate initiatives that ensure a positive impact on local communities. Private sector engagement in sustainable infrastructure and energy can effectively stimulate a huge potential in muchneeded growth and at the same time add resiliency against long-term physical, environmental and economic risks.
